Roseanna is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed, Certified Trick Dog Instructor, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of Art and Design and is a Sporting Detection Dog Judge. She has worked with wildlife and domestic animals in many capacities. She is a wife and mother of two young children as well as an avid dog sport competitor.
What is a CPDT-KA?
A Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) is required to gain at least 300 hours of trainer experience and provided recommendations from a veterinarian, a client, and a colleague. In addition, they are required to pass an independent, psychometrically sound and science-based exam to demonstrate knowledge in Instruction Skills, Animal Husbandry, Ethology, Learning Theory, Equipment, and Business Practices & Ethics. A CPDT has not taken a course which grants them certification, A CPDT Trainer brings their previous experience and knowledge and is tested against a psychochometrically sound science based exam in order to become certified.
A Unique Background
Roseanna was raised at a wildlife animal shelter, specializing in rescuing and rehabilitating injured and orphan birds of prey. Her first paid full time employment was at Al Oeming's Polar Park, a large zoo that was home to 13 Cheetahs, 30 Timber wolves, Grizzly & Polar Bears and so many much more! Gaining experience in the Pet Industry, Roseanna worked in Groom Shops, Pet Stores, Doggie Daycare, as well as with Animal Control, before re-locating to Vegreville in 2013. Roseanna owned and operated a Doggie Daycare, Grooming and Training Center in St. Albert which provided grooming, daycare and training services for up to 70 dogs a day. She has taught hundreds of hours of private training, group classes and seminars on the topics of Obedience, Rally-O, Tracking, Sporting Detection, Agility, and Dog Bite Prevention. Forever a student of animal behaviour and training, Roseanna keeps learning by attending regular educational opportunities to learn from the best in the industry.
Roseanna was proud to host Western Canada's Premiere Sporting Detection Trial in Red Deer, AB in 2013 and continues to be amazed as this Canadian born dog sport grows!
